Project Description

The Regional Municipality of Niagara
Grimsby, Ontario

This project was constructed to increase the capacity of the Baker Road Wastewater Treatment Plant from the current capacity of 22,750 m3/d (average daily flow) to an increased capacity of 31,300 m3/d (average daily flow) with a peak flow capacity of 120,000 m3/d (average daily flow).

The expansion of the existing wastewater treatment plant included upgrades to the existing raw sewage pump station and wetwell. Upgrades to the existing aeration system including retrofitting and modifying the existing aeration tanks, adding selector tanks, installing a new aeration tank with fine bubble aeration system and construction of a new blower building.

The construction of a new secondary clarifier RAS/WAS pumping system complete with VFD drives and associated wiring, new distribution chambers and piping was also part of this contract.

We also supplied and installed new ferric chloride storage and pumping system arrangement in a revised location and expanded the existing chlorination system along with the installation of a new de-chlorination system.

Upgrades were also done to the existing underground utilities to suit the new expansion.
